Re: Wenge Neck Stability
Rock solid, very stable, doesn’t respond hardly at all to climate fluctuations. I’ve seen it used for guitar necks, and bass necks, and it’s stiffness is very consistent.
Keeping this in consideration, are wenge necks heavy?
Wenge is considered a very hard wood and a little heavier than maple. I can attest my Wenge neck is a tad heftier than the roasted maple one I also have in awaiting project funding. If you’ve played on Wenge you already know how it feels.
In this way, is Wenge a good neck wood? Since wenge is used in the construction of guitars and basses, it’s worth investigating whether it’s a good tonewood or not. Is Wenge a good guitar tonewood? Wenge is a hardwood with open grain. It offers a relatively bright tone with superb mid-range and a resonant low-end.
In respect to this, is Wenge heavier than maple?
Maple is lighter than Wenge. If you compare a Maple/Maple neck to a Wenge/Wenge neck, you’ll definitely get more than 1/4 pound weight difference.
Is wenge wood stable?
Splinters of wenge cause persistent inflammation. Exposure to the sawdust can cause abdominal cramps, eye irritation and breathing problems. Stability. This wood is very stable, requiring a change of 6 percent MC for a 1 percent size change tangentially and a 12 percent MC change radially.
