GUITAR RIG is not a sound generator (such as e.g. MASSIVE or KONTAKT) but a virtual guitar amp and effects processor. This means that you need to feed GUITAR RIG with an audio input signal. You can control its parameters via MIDI but it does not produce sounds itself.

Guitar Rig 6 can still create great sounding guitar tones, but it also branches out into experimental and extreme non-guitar tones. BIAS FX 2 also does a better job at managing presets. You can easily create your own user banks, which is far more flexible than saving presets to colors as you do in Guitar Rig 6.
Is Guitar Rig 6 worth the upgrade?
It has a lot of potential and it’s definitely streets ahead of 5. The menus are a lot more like Maschine/KK, the interface is smoother. It’s worth it for me.
